Web 2.0 Experience

The members of 4Rum made these direct statements about the training:

Chadley John:- “The Web 2.0 experience has been quite insightful. Though I have been familiar with most of the tools, the few that captivated my attention would now be put to full use of its functionality.”

George Alcee:- “This provides the tools and platform for greater real time interface.  The limited information I had on the use of those tools I gained a greater clarity and more optimal use of them.

Delia Toussaint:-“Informative and amazingly challenging, but I love it, as well great trainers!!!  I’ve been to workshops where: sorry to say, I just fall asleep but this was different, never a dull moment, hands on and interactive.

Verl Harris-James:- Google “just another place I have an email account”... not anymore. This week I got to appreciate Google and now with the various application and tools available on Google has now gotten be to say that Google is my next life line”

We would like to thank the organizers for the establishment of the Web 2.0 and Social Development workshop aimed at the varying stakeholders in agriculture and rural development.  The group “The 4rum” – with members: Chadley John, Delia Toussaint, George Alcee, and Verl James are all attached to the agricultural industry in our varying organizations.  We would like to wish both the organizers and the trainers God-speed and all the best in their future endeavours.

We do admit that the social media or any of the web tools that were presented to us, were recognized and used in our everyday livelihoods; but we were supplied with hands on and personal interactive training to the proper utilization of the programmes as it relates to diverse situations; as well granting us the capability of using these for more substantial productivity within ourselves and our organizations.  Most of the social Medias’ were use as a means of general communication but after this forum we have established that, with knowledge comes power and one don’t have to be a genius to understand and use the web2.0 platform for efficiency.

The tools learnt will be integrated in our daily lives which intern will assist our organization in utilizing and managing time effectively and reaching a larger audience. Through this workshop we were able create awareness among stakeholders on the importance of ICT policies, web 2.0 and social media for development that can be practiced through other outreach seminars and workshops, radio and TV talk shows, things that we as individuals participate in; which generates more innovative products and services to be targeted and referenced, more effective marketing strategies, better access to knowledge, and a measurable amount of  lowering cost to doing business, and higher return revenues within various organizations.

The workshop was informative and entertaining. It captured the minds of not only the information technological advanced personnel but persons that were constantly on the World Wide Web finding and posting content and person’s who are computer literate and efficient. We cannot state that this road was an easy one,   however applying it to our daily routines will sure be easy. We have planned and executed and achieved more in one week than we would have in a three month normal schedules.   Within our organizations, we can do individual training to help others familiarize themselves with the programs especially blogging, RSS feed and/or Google Alerts, Mapping, wikis and Google drives.
